Pinoy Online Work at Home: How Did I Start

Can I tell you a story? Say yes because I'll tell it anyway. Hehehe... So how did I become interested in Online Marketing? Actually, aksidente lang ang nangyari and it happened this way...

Last year, my wife resigned from her job to focus more on taking care of our kids. So she was looking for a part-time job and she wanted to try those which can be done from home. She got a referral from her best friend na nasa Japan at sinabi ng friend niya to try to visit Jomar Hilario's website. Before long, she registered and paid for the seminar about how to work from home.

On the day of the seminar, my wife needed to bring our kids to the doctor because they got sick the night before. Since the seminar will be held very near to where we lived, ako na ang kumuha ng slot ng wife ko. I did not know what the seminar was all about, basta it will teach you daw on how to work from home.

During the seminar, I was not interested at first but as the talk and the presentation went on, I realized na pwede ko pala syang gawin especially that I have plenty of free time because I was also jobless. At that time, I was working as a telecommunications engineer subcontractor but because projects were so lean, I ended up with no contract and therefore no job. So, nagustuhan ko yung presentation ni Jomar and right before the seminar ended, Jomar Hilario told the participants if we wanted to level up immediately by joining his Online Mentoring Club 2. This OMC2 is a 1 year mentoring course that will teach us how to earn online the right way and the long term way through online marketing.

So, while waiting for job openings or any contracts here in the Philippines (because I do not want to work abroad na except if I can bring my family and migrate somewhere), naisip ko na maging VA for the meantime because I saw this great opportunity that I can earn a decent monthly income (part-time) and sa bahay pa ang office ko, not bad. In addition, I have another option and this was to become an online marketer.

Now, I have three choices: 1. To become a VA. 2. To become an Online Marketer. Or 3. To find a job. At dito na magsisimula ang sarili kong telenovela, or I should say blognovela starring yours truly and I hope you will follow my blognovela as you might pick up some tips on how to succeed or how to fail as a VA or as an OM. Actually, I do not know what will happen to me so just relax (and see a movie) and enjoy the ride!

May your dreams about working at home come true,

Marco

Pinoy Online Work at Home: The Return of the Comeback

Pinoy Online Work at Home: The Return of the Comeback

It has been more than 2 months since I last posted here in my blog, Pinoy Online Work at Home. I decided not to pursue my original goal, to become a Virtual Assistant and instead concentrated on becoming an Online Marketer. Gusto ko maging "Jedi" when it comes to Online Marketing. So I stopped doing my VA assignments and jumped into promoting a concert. Wow, promoting a concert agad?!? Well, akala ko I was promoting a concert but my mentor, Jomar Hilario, told me that I was just merely blogging, not promoting. The concert by the way was Swedish House Mafia's One Last Tour live here in Manila and they performed at the Mall of Asia Arena last Jan. 16, 2013.

What happened was, I began blogging about Swedish House Mafia last December 2012 by introducing the members of the group, their top hits, their first album and all the tracks in it, etc. My goal was to at least be in the top 10 in Google's search engine when Swedish House Mafia One Last Tour will be searched. And unfortunately, I failed. In addition, the all time page views of my blog was only 396 and around 100 were from me and my wife! I also made a Facebook Page called SHM - One Last Tour and the total likes was only 53 and it only picked up after the concert. Ang sabi nga ni Jomar Hilario, let's fail forward and in my own observation, the following were my mistakes (teka, I do not know if it is right to be a critique of my own work):

1. To start with, I'm not a Swedish House Mafia fan, so I really have no idea who they were when I started to blog about them. I only learned about SHM and their songs when I conducted my research. I think when you blog about a certain topic, it should be your passion or your hobby, or something that you are a fan of. If so, it will be easy to say something in your blog and your comments/posts will come out naturally. The only positive result for this promotion was that I became a fan of Swedish House Mafia!

2. Localize the blog address - I learned this from Jomar Hilario and obviously hindi ko sya sinunod. I used One Last Tour in my blog address and I realized that I was competing with the other One Last Tour blogs and web sites of Swedish House Mafia all over the world.

3. As Jomar Hilario pointed out, I was just blogging, not promoting. And then he added that I was LAZY! I think tama naman sya, as I did not use other ways and  means on how to promote an event such as joining a forum, using other social media networking sites other than Facebook, etc. Jomar also mentioned that I should have promoted to the fans of Swedish House Mafia in Facebook and not to my friends.

There might be other mistakes that I did when I tried to promote (or blog) but I think the important thing is I realized those mistakes, learned from it and I should do better next time. Online work at home is really a challenge. I'm still struggling, nahihirapan din sa pag-motivate ng sarili ko to do this regularly. I'm also not sure if what I'm doing now is tama but I have to start somewhere. Yes, fail forward so that when the time comes and the opportunity will present itself, I will be ready. And for all those who want to work from home and you happen to read this, I hope that you will learn from my mistakes and hopefully this will help you on becoming a better online marketer in the future.

May your dreams about working at home come true,

Marco
